I found this coffee shop because it just so happens to be across the street from Blanco, my favorite shop. I noticed the sign made from a glass box full of to-go cups. From that point on, I knew I had to go. It was only a matter of time. As it turns out, two of my favorite shops in Jogja now are across the street from one another.
Barn is great! It’s got a large fish tank in the front room with some cool wall art and vintage signs. It has an educational-type wall mural in the back room. Some tables are made of glass with some unroasted coffee beans in them.
It’s got a super unique set-up with the front counter actually being outside. Overall, it’s a great place to check out.
It was great. The AC worked well (albeit on a cool day), and the music was nice. They played old rock like Queen and Eric Clapton, which was interesting but good. All the seating seemed comfortable. It was a little dark inside though with very little natural light.
The coffee was great. I got Gayo coffee brewed with the Chemex, and as far as I could detect, they knew what they were doing. There were five single origins to choose from including one from El Salvador. The prices were great too!
Price: 14-17k (depending on method — Chemex = 17k)
Brewing Methods: V60, Siphon, Chemex, AeroPress, French Press, Vietnamese Drip, Cold Brew
Single Origin? Yes (5)
Overall Rating: 4
Yes. I absolutely recommend Barn. The price is hard to beat, and it’s super nice inside. One drawback is that it doesn’t open until 1pm though. While Blanco is still my favorite, for a change of pace, I can see myself heading across the street to Barn.
