Djournal Coffee is…
Eclectic, Trendy, Community
Atmosphere: inside a mall; full of people hanging out and meeting
Outdoor Seating: yes…a lot
Good for groups? yes
Good for work? yes (but with limited outlets)
Merchandise for sale? full range, brewing equipment, mugs, t-shirts, bags, et cetera
Writer’s Notes: There was a large wall separating the back seating area from the mall to make it feel like much more of a stand alone location. Great job on that. There was also a beautiful brew bar.
Wifi: must register an account and present your ecard (email) to gain access
Electrical Outlets: very few
Music: medium volume, background
Lighting: back room has a lot of natural lighting but is dark when it’s cloudy
Chair type: many cushioned seats and couches
Food: full menu
Brewing Methods: V60, siphon, nitro cold brew, espresso machine
Notable Equipment: EK43, halogen lamps (for siphon)
Bean Variety: 4 single origin options
Price: 29k (manual brew); 50k (nitro)
Writer’s Notes: The coffee was good, but nothing really set it apart from other coffee shops other than the availability of nitro cold brew.
Overall Rating: 3
Recommended? yes, if you’re at or near the mall
Surprisingly, even though Djournal is located inside a mall, it was a very solid coffee shop that I wouldn’t mind going back to. They did a great job at making it feel separate from the mall and also offered really low prices for coffee in Jakarta.
